California has a big water problem -- and global warming only makes it worse. Our speaker Kristina Ortiz will focus on strategies for ensuring adequate clean drinking water for all Californians in the face of population growth and global warming. She will describe the scope of the problem and discuss how we, as ECDC members, can take effective action to protect our water supply. As the Delta and Conservation Advocate at National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Ms. Ortiz builds coalitions of diverse stakeholders to protect Delta water quality and habitat and promotes state and regional water conservation. Ms. Ortiz graduated from Madera High School and Harvard College (cum laude), and has long been an environmental advocate, white water rafter and camper. The meeting, open to the public, is held at El Cerrito United Methodist Church, 6830 Stockton St. (near Richmond Ave.). Parking is available. | ||
