07/24/2007 - 7:30pm

Our June 26th meeting was the last ECDC meeting at Northminster Presbyterian Church on Ashbury Avenue. On Tuesday, July 24th, we will move to a new permanent meeting location at:
Fellowship Hall
United Methodist Church
6830 Stockton Avenue, El Cerrito

This will be the location for the July 24 meeting and for all future ECDC meetings. This new location is near the southeast corner of Stockton and Richmond Streets in El Cerrito. Fellowship Hall is in the basement of the church and is fully ADA compliant. The walk to the outside entrance of the Hall is along the west side of the church (the right side as you face the main entrance. Limited parking is available in the church lot located on the east side of the church. Additional parking is available on both sides of Stockton Avenue.

ECDC will begin the July 24th meeting at Northminster Presbyterian Church at 7:30 pm and start a parade from Makemie Hall to the Fellowship Hall of the El Cerrito United Methodist Church. Come enjoy the evening sunlight with us as we walk the 8 blocks from one to the other, bearing our Democratic Values, our banner and our ECDC signs. Or, head directly over to the El Cerrito United Methodist Church and greet the walkers as they arrive.

ECDC will have a desert and "finger food" potluck at this July meeting. ECDC will provide coffee and other drinks. Someone will be at the Fellowship Hall by 6:30 so those who wish to participate in the walk from Northminister Church to the United Methodist Church can park and drop off food or drink, and still get over to the Northminister Church in time to take part in the parade. ECDC members Joan Kuenz and Edwin Rutsch will be videoing the march. After the march, they also will be filming ECDC members who volunteer to be videoed while describing their progressive values. The film of our march and these interviews will become part of Joan and Edwin's latest video project on progressive values.

When the parade of ECDC members arrives at the United Methodist Church, various elected officials, members of other Democratic Clubs and organizations, and other community activists and friends, will greet us. If needed, we will have a short business meeting and, as time permits, we will feature an open mike period during which members can share their concerns and action suggestions over various issues.

Join us as we make our move and prepare for our Democratic future.
